Pimento Peppers (also spelled Pimiento, the Spanish word for pepper) are a beloved heirloom sweet pepper. Most famously known as the little red stuffing inside cocktail green olives, these heart-shaped, thick-walled peppers are remarkably sweet. They have a rich, aromatic flavor and are the primary pepper dried and ground down to make high-quality sweet paprika. Exactly like other garden peppers, pimentos thrive as tender summer annuals in USDA Zones 3 through 8. 100 to 500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU Full sun is essential. Pet friendly? Yes to the fruit, but no to the plant foliage.
